It was very difficult for me to dislike this work; the emotion driving its creation appears to be somewhat autobiographical and I very much like the author, whose persona shines brilliantly in Part 1. Then, much like the world when the comet strikes, it crashes and burns.

Far too much dysfunction too quickly, too rapid a development from charmed childhood into tragic adulthood, the author appears to lose focus; it then descends into a chaotic, quasi-hysterical and totally incredible mess. I couldn't get through more than half of the book, did read the last few pages, though. I would say this is an amazing first effort but I think this author needs to work through his own angst before attempting another.
