Everything and the Moon - Lyndon Sisters, Bk 1
Author: Julia Quinn
STARCROSSED — It was indisputably love at first sight. But Victoria Lyndon was merely the teenaged daughter of a vicar. . .while Robert Kemble was the dashing young earl of Macclesfield. Surely what their meddlesome fathers insisted must have been true-that he was a reckless seducer determined to destroy her innocence. . . and she was a shameless...  more »

This was my first Julia Quinn book. I'm sorry to say I didn't like it very much. I thought the characters were shallow, and their love at first sight didn't really ring true to me; it seemed too much like "lust at first sight" than love? In other words, there seemed to be nothing attracting them to each other except their exceptional good looks. The misunderstanding that kept them apart was kind of weak. Why should Robert leave for London after months of "loving" Victoria, it didn't make sense. Even if he thought she was nothing but a fortune hunter (and if he loved her, why would he immediately jump to that conclusion after months of "love"). He would have had more respect from me if he had confronted her. Oh well. I might try another Julia Quinn book, but this novel really didn't impress me so it's going to be difficult for me to try her again.

Not as funny as some of Quinn's others. A little more predictable.

An earlier effort from a budding good writer. Simply-plotted. Lacking in understanding of the difference between romance integral to plot and extraneous padding of graphic imagery. Characterizations less mature than her later books, but the humor is fun - an enjoyable read.

Julia Quinn is incomparable when it comes to dialogue. Her characters come across as real people saying and thinking things that real people say and think. They're funny, sad, gentle, sensual, loving, lovable and unforgettable!

This is the story of the star-crossed lovers who fall in love, get separated and then meet again.. he wants revenge, she wants to erase him from her history. They both fail.

Lovely book, lovely read.

The first in the Lyndon sisters 2-book series (followed by Brighter than the Sun --- my very favorite) this book takes a typical star-crossed lovers story and turns it on its ear. Very enjoyable characters, especially the leading man. Not as funny as the other Quinn novels, but definitely a romantic story.
