This is Scottoline's debut novel. Part of a series. One of those books you just can't put down. Some Catholic/Italian humor.

Mary DiNunzio has been slaving away for the past eight years trying to make partner in her cutthroat Philadelphia law firm. She's too busy to worry about the crank phone calls she's been getting -- until they fall into a sinister pattern. The phone rings as soon as she gets to work then as soon as she gets home. Mary can't shake the sensation that someone is watching her, following her every move. The shadowboxing turns deadly when her worst fears are realized and she has to fight for something a lot more important than partnership -- her life.

I enjoyed this novel.
Interesting, real character with a colorful ethnic family and lots of twists and turns in the plot.

I missed this one the first tine around. Really too bad, because this is a really well thought out mystery. Great character set ups, good dialogue and terrific plot.

I love Scottoline's lawyer series as she goes into the background and personality of each of the firm's members. This one shows who Mary is and what she can do and lays a firm basis for the rest of the series.
