I usually like Richard North Patterson. This is one of his better ones. I can put myself in the place of the lawyer caught between the life he built for himself and the ethical thing to do. Here he is just on the brink of a life he worked twoard for most of his life when this person he cared about deeply during his law school years is framed for an assasination that she didn't participate in...or did she. He is not sure but realizes that she doesn't stand a chance with an unexperienced public defender which is all she can afford. Will he fight for her even though it will cost him his fiancee and career or will he decide to go the easy route? He is a secular Jew and his relationship with this Palestinan woman draws him into a clearer understanding of the Zionist movement.
