I really enjoyed this second book in the series by Elizabeth Aston. It's full of adventure, humor, and well constructed characters. She brings back some of the characters from the first book as well as introducing new ones.

As I like historical fiction, I appreciated the setting and how Aston weaves a story which shows how difficult life for women in the early 1800s was. The main character is a free spirit and talented in music. Yet, she finds out early that those characteristics are not appreciated in a married woman. It made me wonder how many women were shunned during those times merely because they did not conform to such rigid rules.

Any fan of Jane Austen will enjoy this. I have read several books taking place in the world of Jane Austen, and Aston is enjoyable. We never get to see Lizzy and Darcy, but their daughters are a joy. Her writing is similar to Austen's, and so are some of the situations these girls get them selves into.

This the sequel to Aston's Mr. Darcy's Daughters, which I liked a little better. It was very enjoyable to read, I just felt that the romance interest of the protagonist, Alethea, was almost exactly the same character as the love interest of Camilla in Mr. Darcy's Daughters.

A nice sequel to Mr. Darcy's Daughters, it was a light read easily finished in a weekend. It dragged a little about midway, but skimming those pages didn't diminish my ability to follow the plot.

Loads of FUN!! Where even the most levelheaded respectables get caught into mischief. Full of Autin-like wit and plenty of twists unseen coming around each corner. Enjoy!
