The reader was terrific, and it was tremendous fun to hear about foreigners, and young women at that, immersing themselves into the peasant culture in Italy.

I absolutely loved this story. I lived in Italy during the time it was written, and that made it even more enjoyable. (I must confess that it made my treadmill time much easier too--actually looked forward to it!)

Light, yet very entertaining and humorous; it made me want to find this particular part of the Italian coast.

I came across this audiobook quite by accident (on Paperbackswap) and thank goodness for that accident. It is a most delightful audiobook. The story is easy to love and funny. The narrator does a wonderful job telling the story.

Set in the eighties, it's a well written fun story of two sisters from England who go to Liguria, Italy and fall in love with it and buy a home. Wholesome and quite fun. The characters are likeable and believeable. It's really a wonderful audiobook with some interesting and often funny cultural insights. Pretty lighthearted and feel good.

It is not a romance story, to my great relief, as I thought it might be. Except the "romance" between the women and the land and the culture.

I truly loved it.

i totally enjoyed this book. i love listening to books as i do other things, and this was perfect for that. it is so much fun to hear about other people who have had the adventure of going abroad and actually buying a place and fixing it up to live there. it's interesting and humorous and true. i also really liked the narrator's voice. this is 6 hours on 4 cassettes and is abridged.

Loved this book! Allowed me to visit Liguria again where cappucino in the afternoon is only for tourists.

Delightful story of two English sisters who visit Italy on holiday and decide to buy a downtrodden house. The story enthralls you with their interaction with the locals; how much they learn the hard way about the whys and why nots of how to live on the mountain, how they are embraced by their neighbors, enjoy the foods and festivals of the area. Warm, funny, a very light read.

Not very well written. Not has good as The Hills of Tuscany.
