What started out as a punishment, ended up saving Filip Muller's life. After stealing something (won't say what) he was punished to work in the gas chambers. The horrors he had to deal with every single day is unthinkable. I'm surprised I didn't have nightmares while reading this book. It would have been nice to see pictures of him now (or at least when he wrote the book as it was originally published in the 70s), and maybe some about his life after he left the gas chambers and they liberated Auschwitz. I have read a lot of books about the Holocaust and I know this one will stay with me for years to come.

This is an unbelievable book - Everytime I read a book about the holocaust I am amazed at how this could be done - how people could turn there heads knowing this was going on.
