Magnificent guide to Portugal, Madeira and the Azores, withhundreds if not thousands of beautiful full color pictures, illustrations and maps. Rich historical and cultural background. Although Eyewitness guides do have a section on hotels and restaurants, there strength is on the description and historical/cultural background of attractions. Printed on glossy pages, the book is heavy. It may not be one you choose to take on your trip, but it certainly is one to read before (taking voluminous notes of course) and after your visit to Portugal. The best book about Portugal I've found.
