I snapped the audio version of this novella from the library shelf when I saw that famed author and noted baseball fan Stephen King was using a televised game of my hometown Tampa Bay Rays (nee Devil Rays) as the backdrop for his story.
The story was quite predictable and not much different from so many other "old man looks back upon his life" tales that have been around since mankind began telling tales. I give author King props for doing a great job in handling his take on this old trope, but in the end, it's a story we've all seen several times before.
I DID love the nostalgic look at my favorite baseball team, though.
RATING: 3 stars. Sorry, Mr. King.
