This book is a graphic treatment of the contrast between legalism and God's life. An Islamic Imam is driven by his legalism to an act of terror that intends to destroy numerous large cities and millions of people; and a successful Christian pastor finally realizes that his legalism is what has separated him from the relationship he longs for with his son. When these men locate the stones that had been embedded in the ancient Israeli high priest's breastplate, they each come face to face with the very presence of God. Will they allow His presence to purge them of their sin, or will they resist and pay the ultimate price? This is a page-turning adventure, with a deep and life-changing message.
A Christian and a Muslim are both searching for self and the stones in the priests breastplate. It gets pretty preachy, sometimes teaching us how the Isams feel about their duty to allah, and a strange profile of what the author thinks a Christian should be. Very interesting, sometimes draggy, sometimes exciting, well read.
This book is not only an exciting thriller steeped in background from the Old Testament, but you'll also learn something about the Christian faith as well.
Interesting locale & characters.
I absolutely loved this book!!! Kept me on my toes throughout!!
Couldn't put it down! Loved it!
A thought provoking story about why different people want to hear from God, and what it would be like to be face to face with God himself. An adventurous tale with an "Indiana Jones" flavor, I enjoyed reading it. It challenged my own ways of thinking about people: do I really see them as God does?? I learned that when I can see people with God's heart, my preconcevied notions and prejudices seem very absurd. Another well told tale by Bill Myers.
Enjoyed this book, first I've read from Mr. Myers. I like his constant reference to scriptures!
