The first two books in this series were only "OK." However, the author has hit her stride with this one and has written a keeper. Because Reverend Shackleford was injured in the second book, the Duke paid for him to rest in Torquay, away from his brood of children. Only Faith is attending him, while the rest of the family allows the Vicar to recuperate. However, Augustus cannot allow a mystery to bubble up without investigating the issue. It isn't long before he is out of bed and snooping.
This is an adventure with lots of laughs. However, the solution is a stunner, even for the early 1800s. Overall score = 4.5 stars.
