Well written - great characters - esp. Barnaby & Troy.
The outside looks like a "relationship" book - but luckily it's a Chief Inspector Barnaby book - he's great and this book delivers.

Much more detailed than the TV movie!
A neighborhood mystery set in England, with lots of quirky characters and both good and bad detective work. Intricate plot and lots of twists.
This was a good one to try to figure out "who done it." It's fun to picture Barnaby and Troy with their opposite temperaments. I enjoyed it totally.
Don't watch much television but PBS series was much more enjoyable...book is too drawn out and boring.

A good mystery with a twist in the end I did not see coming. A great read.

What is buried in poor Mrs. Hollingsworth's garden - and why did she turn up dead?

From the Inspector Barnaby series.
This is the Chief Inspector Barnaby that is one in the same as the Inspector Barnaby of the A&E mystery series.
I enjoyed every minute of reading this book. You know as much as Inspector Barnaby, and it was great fun - all the way to the very end - trying to figure out who the killer is.
Simone Hollingsworth is by all appearances a bored, spoiled housewife. She joins different groups in the village, but never sticks around long. One day she disappears. Her distraught husband Alan is seen to drown his sorrow in alcohol, and behaves very strangely. Then, a few days later, he is found dead. Other well-drawn characters (and suspects) are the girl next door who has had a crush on Alan for a long time. Then there is the artist who was supposed to meet Simone on the day of her disappearance. And Alan's ex-partner in business, whom Alan cheated out of his fair share of the profits.
A great read!
