Although billed as 'teenage reading', would not limit it to just that. Having experienced Viet Nam, found this book very relevant to any age. An in depth pursuit of what it was like in the 'trenches' of Viet Nam during the Tet Offensive. The author was well acquainted with the technical and emotional elements of combat at that time. Excellent narative of a typically tragic and true story.
This book is about a young man gone to war. There he meets friends and says goodbye to others. The book is full of war action and is great for war lovers.
As a veteran of the Greater Southeast Asian War Games, I feel this book is a good fictional introduction of that conflict to young adults. I especially liked the depiction of frustration in those men fighting the war.

Richie Perry, Lobel, Johnson, Brunner, and Peewee are all in Vietnam. They came there for different reasons, but now they share a single dream -- getting out alive.
