Police Chief Kate Burkholder is shocked when she recognizes the woman who was brutally murdered at a local hotel. Rachael Schwartz grew up in Painter's Mills. She was notorious for breaking the Amish rules and was excommunicated more than a dozen years ago. Did anyone know she was back in town? As Kate and BCI Agent John Tomasetti try to track down Rachael's last days, they learn that she was a very troubled woman with many enemies.
This is book 13 in the Kate Burkholder series. I liked the pacing of this story. It kept moving forward with no slow sections in the story. I thought the killer and the motive were obvious by the middle of the book. It didn't impact my enjoyment of the book though. I'm looking forward to continuing this series. My rating: 4 Stars.
