This is one of my favorites by Georgette Heyer! It's a lovely caper full of humor and romance. I think a book that can make me laugh out loud is a good one, and this one had me giggling throughout. Thumbs up!

Another great GH story. What could be better, twins! Guys! The Fancot twins, one the Earl of Denville and the other in the diplomatic corps. A lifetime of switching places has caught up with them. Once again, her heroine is an intelligent, grey-eyed, brown-haired lady of perception. Her favorite heroines ALL had grey eyes! I wonder what color GH's eyes were, hmmmm?

With a fairly cute, though unoriginal, premise--"False Colours" held some promise of being one of Georgette Heyer's charming Regency romances. Unfortunately, the story never really got off the ground. The characters lacked the usual sparkle of Heyer's writing. All I can assume is that this book was written hurriedly to fulfill a contract obligation. If you have never read a Georgette Heyer, I highly recommend starting off with a different one (such as "Arabella" or "Frederica") Only read "False Colours" if you already love Heyer's works and can account for an off book here or there!

This is one of my favorite GH books. I reread my copy once a year--it is hilarious, reminds me of Victor/Victoria with Julie Andrews & James Garner. Don't miss this one!

One of my favorite Heyers, and I love the classic Allan Kass cover on this edition.
I love this story of twins, the elder of whom inherited the earldom and the property, and the younger of whom chose a career in the diplomacy. The elder (Evelyn) is an amiable chap, the younger (Kit) is more serious. Both adore their mother, who is a flake but a charming and affectionate one - a contrast to their unemotional father, who had married her for her beauty and charm and had then frozen her out because she wasn't what he expected in a wife. So, a dysfunctional family - how will things turn out for them? And will Cassie, the Earl's proposed bride, figure it all out in time to marry the right guy? This is Heyer, so she will, of course, and a lot of fun will be had along the way.
There's a reason Heyer is regarded as having begun the regency subgenre, and this is one of her best.
