I enjoyed this mother's candor about her rocky ride through her identity changing to incorporate her son's status as a gay man. I have been out for many years, but have never had this viewpoint (i.e. that of the parent who receives the news from the child that (s)he is homosexual) elucidated fully to me before. As soon as I read it, I asked both of my parents to read it. Then i will pass it on to my partner's parents, too.
