I thought this book had reached its climax too early and the resolution of the romance would be boring. Was I ever wrong! Wonderful, exciting happy ending!

Kate Wade has to convince Luke Gilchrist to return to run his family business. Can she convince him to return to bail out the family he hates, without getting romantically involved with him? Heck no!

Classic Jayne Ann Krentz, this book has everything I love about her work -- dysfunctional families and trust issues combined with wonderful, vivid characters and a great, wow-what-happens-next story. A great read!

If you've read Jayne Ann Krentz before you'll love this book equally as well. She does a great job mixing light mystery and romance. At this point I skip over the graphic details yet still find enough content to keep me reading. Enjoy!

Krentz delivers what she is good at: a light read with sassy heroines and alpha heroes.

Katy Wade has worked for the Gilchrist family since she finished high school. Ready to start her own business, she just needs to lure the black sheep of the family, Luke Gilchrist, back to take over the Gilchrist empire and save the family's restaurants. After the way the family treated his parents, Luke has no interest in saving the family. But Katy Wade does interest him. Her tenacity intrigues him. She is like a little bulldog who won't let go. So Luke makes a deal with his Grandmother, the Gilchrist matriarch. He will come back to save the company, if Katy will be his personal assistant. With no other choice, Katy agrees to help Luke rescue the family business.

This book was first released in 1992. It's a little dated, but the story is still appealing. Most of the family does not want Luke to take over the business because they feel he will seek revenge for the way he and his parents were treated. They even wonder if he will sabotage what is left of the business and leave them penniless. Katy is hesitant to put her faith in Luke, but when she sees the way he handles some of the problems, she knows he will be good for the Gilchrist empire. As Katy and Luke grow closer, outsiders try to sabotage their happiness and they must fight to stay together. My rating: 3.5 Stars.
