I don't normally read romance novels of any kind. I find them unbelievable and boring. I only read this book because it was a recommendation by a friend and she dared me to read and see if I didn't like it. I didn't like it, I loved it. This is a fabulous book that keeps your interest. Very enjoyable read, even for people who don't normally read this kind of stuff. I am going to be reading more of this authors work.

While not technically a "Dark Hunter" book this will introduce you to the Dark World and some of the continuing characters.
This book was difficult for me to get into but once I got past about Chapter 3 (and my own misconceptions), it was great!

This is a great book about a man trapped for years as a sex slave summoned out of a book. When Grace calls him, he finds more than he ever expected, but can it last? Will at last a two thousand year old curse be broken by true love?

Sherrilyn Kenyon has the wonderful talent to bring her characters to life. You can not go wrong with this book. If you read this one, you will be "hooked" for the rest of the series! If you like Paranormal Romance, you will LOVE this one!

A great read. Love that I am actually learning about Greece from so many years ago. The concept of someone coming out of a book and being real seems odd but completely believable once Sherrilyn Kenyon starts weaving her exciting story. It is wonderful to see true love depicted so romantically and vividly. Would that we all could find this type of deep and sustaining commitments in our own lives. Reading this book, however, was its' own reward, though, and I hope to continue with the Dark Hunter series and look forward to many, many hours of enjoyment.

If you are just starting the dark hunter series, don't get confused by this book. The players in this story are important as the series progresses. Besides it is a great love story.

Disappointing. I expected much more from Kenyon.
Helpful Score: 3
Many romance novels are somewhat contrived, but this one seemed even more so, especially the sex. It just wasn't very well written. I did like the characters and the concept was interesting, which is why I wanted to read it in the first place, but overall, it was an unsatisfying read. I won't be reading the others in the series and am reposting another book, unread, that I requested by the same author.

I really, really wanted to like this. And for the most part I did. But I had to grit my teeth at times to do it. I just can't stretch my suspension of disbelief enough to buy that a woman whose previous sexual experiences have been humiliating and hurtful is going to get rabidly turned on at the sight of a naked man; I don't care how good his body is. I can buy the fantastical Greek Gods and such, but I can't buy nature being that different for the humans in the stories.

Once again, this cheese stands alone. After reading the enthusiastic reviews,I rushed out and bought a copy, not having the patience to wait for a wish request to come through. Settled in for the night with a nice glass of wine and happy expectation, I cracked the cover and could barely get through 11 pages. I skimmed the rest and fought back my gag reflex. I know this author has a devoted following, but I found this book trite and riddled with cliches. I'm so disappointed because the plot idea held so much promise. Fantasy Lover reads like an interminable social network chat session with pop slang and internet-esque jingo. Here's my fantasy that I would love; paranormal romance writers skilled in their craft who presume an intelligent well-read reader. On the plus side: 1 copy of Fantasy Lover available soon to fulfill someone else's wish list hold.

Plot Summary: A refreshingly imperfect heroine in today's New Orleans summons a Greek Love Slave from the book where he is trapped for eternity due to a harsh sentence given him by a Greek God (Priapus).
Main Characters: Grace, the heroine, is funny, likable for the most part, and intelligent. Julian, the hero, is romantic, sexy, tragic but hopeful, and protective.I liked both characters and the way that that interacted with each other.
Best Part of This Book: Definitely romantic and funny at times.
Worst Part of This Book: Sometimes a bit light for my taste.
Summary: I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a light romantic read as well as anyone who is interested in reading Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunters Series in order (as this is the first book, although Julian is NOT a Dark Hunter). I enjoyed it, but having read it once was enough and I was fine with swapping this book to the next reader.

I really wanted to like this book but I thought it was so cheesy. I didn't really like the situation or the characters and found the dialogue and style to be really silly. With all the great reviews I'm going to try another book in the series, 12+ books in, Kenyon must have something going here, perhaps this book just wasn't for me.

This was my first Kenya book. I have to say I didn't like it as much as I hoped I would. I got sick of hoe beautiful Julian is. I mean I like a good romance nova but there just seemed to be too many page after page of oh how gorgeous. More substance less golden hair. I will read the next book in the series in hopes of redemption of the author.

I have one word for this book AMAZING! I do not get into romance at all. It has always struck me as cheesy or way over done. But this was a perfect mix of romance, sex and paranormal. This book turns you on, makes you cry(I cried twice..LOL), and keeps you interested the whole time. So glad I gave this one a shot!

Excellent story, well written, I really enjoyed it! I love a story with a happy ending!
I had been looking for something with a different twist within the romance genre, and found it with this book. It is a great book for escapism, but with enough reality that you can identify with the characters. Love the sexual tension and humor. The cover model is fun to look at too!! I plan to read the whole series.

Although the premise of this book is a good one, I found the author's style to be immature and just plain silly. Some of the messages and exposition in this book is downright pandering and almost embarrassing to read. "Oooo...baby" is used several times as a description of how hot the main male character is, which is lazy and ridiculous.
Kenyon does a fairly good job with the erotic scenes in the book, and the story itself wasn't bad. Just my personal opinion on the writing style, of course, but if you don't like to be patronized to regarding what the 'typical' woman fantasizes about (to be rescued, made love to without reciprocating, etc.), then skip this book.

Late to the party reading the Dark-Hunter(verse) series. I do prefer to read books in order, so should have read this one first. I read Night Pleasures first instead. That might have been for the best, because if I had read this one first, I probably wouldn't have bothered with Night Pleasures (and that was a better book).
While I liked Grace and Julian individually, and as a couple, I had too many annoyances/eye roll moments. For example, Grace is a professional woman with an advanced degree who is a licensed therapist . She has ONE horrible experience and she allows that ONE experience/person to more or less dictate the next several years. She doesn't move on or isn't able to move on. That's not the only time she does that either, because her parent's room remains untouched and closed off for (you guessed it) YEARS as well. For a therapist, I thought she was incredibility naive/immature and probably should have been in therapy herself. ("It had taken her YEARS to get over Paul and his cruelty...") Seriously? Then, that one person appears later one in the book. So, um, no. Then the whole stalker thing? Overdone and unnecessary.
Then there's my issue with Julian's attractiveness. I notice hot guys and am able to discreetly look without (excuse me) losing my brain (or forgetting I have one). So that annoyed me. (Literally Julian can't go anywhere without multiple women trying to touch him, pick him up, you get the picture). Eye-roll.
Just so-so for me. Extra 1/2 star because I was routing for Grace and Julian as a couple.

Story of Julian of Macedon and Grace Alexander - a sweet story about two people finding love and saving each other. Both had been hurt by others. They made each other feel like people, instead of just a piece of meat.
Greek and roman mythology is used to enhance the story - Can't wait to read the next book that really starts the Dark Hunter series.

The first book in the Dark-hunter series and what a way to start it off. The book has nothing to do with any of the DH but is a great setup for book 2. Fanstacy Lover tells the story of Julian, who is cursed and Grace, the one, who will try to set him free. This is a really good love story that has alot of sex scenes. You will love this book.

This book was a bit over-the-top, placing Greek Mythological Gods and Godesses in modern time, but it was good. I really liked it, which is difficult for me to admit because I never used to read romance novels. Fantasy Lover combines action, history, and fantasy. It's not just a romance! I enjoyed Julian of Macedonia's story and look forward to continuing with the Dark-Hunter series, as I understand this book sets the stage for what is to come in the series. Vampires? Yes, I am ready!

I read this book on the recommendation of my online buddies, and the sensation of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series. This book was very, very enjoyable. It was not what I expected at all. Sherrilyn Kenyon's writing is witty, sweet, fun, and sensual. Who would ever guess how sexy one could eat spaghetti? Or read? Tension between the 2 is OFF THE CHARTS!
The characters were very well developed, and I enjoyed finally seeing a HEA for them. They both were afraid to share their feelings, a pet peeve of mine, but the way SM writes the background of the h/h, I was not irrited at all- you go girl!
It may take me 10 years to get to Acheron, but I will. I just hope there's not a test for what god does what, because I would fail miserably.

Sherrilyn Kenyon does it again.
This her first story in the dark-hunter series. The way she writes just makes you want to go out and find that fantasy book.
Its about a love-slave that had to please every woman that releases him from the book.
Until he meet Grace. the one thing his wounded heart cannot survive without.
Sure, love can heal alll wounds but can it break a two-thousand-year-old curse?
I loved this book, because Sherrilyn draws woman into her stories and makes them want to be the woman she writing about or hope you can find that bad boy she writing about.
Enjoy reading more of Sherrilyn Kenyon Books!!!!!!

This first book in the series to me is just a typical romance book. Well written but not anything that I haven't read before. It was a quick easy read. The series, however, is a great series and I do recommend reading this book first as the charaters make appearances in later books.
This is a wonderful book and is the beginning of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series. Spartan warrior Julian was trapped in a scroll as a love-slave. As a Birthday present Grace's best friend get's him for her. As a joke, Grace says the charm to release him and gets a super-hot demi-god at her beck and call. This is a genuine and touching romance. I think what I liked about this book the most was that while romance was the main point of this book there were so many other facets. Mainly family. Whether is was Grace and the wonderful memories of her family coupled with the desperate emotions tied to their deaths, or Julian who never knew love from his family or those he considered family and the resulting loneliness that overwhelmed him. This book was not just about lustful desire, but the desire to be loved, wanted, and happy.

I bought the entire series (6 months ago)and I have only read the first book. I read the entire book but I had to force myself to in hopes that it would live up to its "Dark Hunter" title. To me it did not. I don't mind romance but this was not at all what I was expecting. Someone please tell me if the series gets better or am I wasting time ? Do all of the books in this series have a romantic theme and skirt farther away from the "paranormal" aspect or do they eventually get more into the paranormal side ?
Just a side note. If I was told it was a romance novel from the beginning I think I would have enjoyed it more. As far as the romance side of it goes, the book had an excellent and unique story. Just not what I had anticipated. Next time I will read the reviews BEFORE I delve into another entire series purchase :)

Great book, and highly recommend it. I got mine from paperbackswap but unfortunately it is not repostable because my two year old got ahold of it with a pen. What a waste of a wondeful read.
Great beginning to what seems to be another wonderful series.
A creative plot and lovable, if not somewhat predictable characters. A good beach and great for anyone interested in Greek and Roman mythology.
Bring me a love slave any day that I can show love to! This was a great book to introduce the Dark-Hunters! In many romance books, both the male and female are beautiful and perfect...this one shows flaws in Grace and makes her more real for most "normal" women to relate to. She is insecure and Julian shows her how beautiful she really is as she shows him he is not just good for sex. Can't wait to get my hands on more in this series...have 4 in route as I write this review.
I loved this book. I was pretty surprised at how good it really was. At first it reminded me of Gena Showalter's Pleasure Slave, but it Sherrilyn's characters were a little more emotionally deeper then her characters were.
The only downside I have is that I felt some of the scene's could of been in better detail and not happened as fast as they did.

boring!!! i have to admit that i read only first 3 chapters and final.....
Julian, Julian, Julian... I really enjoyed this book. Even though it really isn't a "Dark-Hunter" novel, the main characters Julian and Grace appear throughout the Dark-Hunter series. It is a must read once you become addicted to this series.
this book has me hooked from the minute i laid eyes on it! very enjoyable read. i find the storyline highly intriguing. it was a real page turner to me and i loved every page :) Sherrilyn Kenyon has always been one of my favs
Loved this book! A great story of two people drawn together by fate - the hopeless romantic in me laughed, cried and didn't want the book to end. I look forward to the next book in the series.
This was my first Kenyon book. I loved it! Will definately read the next one.
wonderful
Reall good story! Makes characters seem real. Introduces several characters that will have their own book later in the series.
I read this for the "Fantasy" theme in my online book club, The Reading Cove. It was not for me. Can't even count it as brain candy. The characters were too cartoonish for me to be entertained. Read more like a comic book.
Cute story, likable characters. funny and sexy. the ending is a bit of a roller coaster which i enjoyed. I truly felt for the characters, especially Julian's painful past. At times, the dialogue was a bit cheesy and over the top. "holy green guacamole!!" I also didn't care for portraying ancient gods and goddesses as bikers and calling their mother the Goddess Aphrodite, "mom" etc. it would have been more palatable to keep mythical gods and goddesses in the realm we know of them instead of the modern day dumbing down. otherwise a nice light read with a bit of spice.
I loved this book! Original! Funny and great!!! Not a book anyone could go wrong w/!
sherrilyn kenyon, needi say more! great read. D
I guess "not for me" would be the best review for this book. I did not finish it. A friend told me about this series. After reading the summary on the back I was skeptical about reading it, but went ahead and gave it a try. A couple chapters in and I felt like I was reading a kinky teenage novel. The writing is kind of immature/lacking, but the content is pretty adult. I think this series is considered paranormal romance and I guess it's just not my thing.
Thanks I really enjoyed it. It too was nice when Grace was not into the beauty of the man(Julian). And the fact that Julian was able to see thing in a different light once he was around Grace and when you see into the heart of a person. Plus the fact Julian got the understanding of why his mother was the way she was and learn to love and have it on return. I can't wait to get into another book of Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark-Hunters.

I love all of Sherrilyn Kenyon's books but this is one of my favorites. Great reading.
This book was an amusing read but I am SUPER HAPPY that I didn't pay full price for it.
I loved this book! The story line was very good...different from most of the fantasy romance books I read. I'm looking forward to reading the whole series. I love the way the main character, Julian, has a hard time learning the ways of modern life. I can't say enough good things about this book. I read it in 1 day!!
I love all of her books, I have not found a single book that was boring or bad. She sucks me into her books from the beginning and I have a hard time putting them down. It only takes me about a day and a half to read one of her books. I own almost all of her books except for her newer ones that I have not gotten a chance at buying yet but I plan doing so before the end of the year!
Great story - I really like this book as an introduction to the world of the Hunters.
An excellent read by an excellent author!
A great read with Gods and Goddesses in the modern day world.
Excellent book, excellent series, great author.
Great 5 star read, almost hated to repost it-HA! Very funny, hot, and fun to work out the plot.
I really enjoyed this book, and it was very easy to get into. The characters draw you in and you look forward to what's coming next. A very pleasant escape from reality.
Another great book by Ms. Kenyon. This is the story of Julian & Grace. Every woman should have a Julian...........
This is a 'prequel' of sorts to the Dark Hunter series. It was awesome!! The characters are witty, and humorous and I very much could relate to how the female lead character was feeling. A fantastical story with really believable personalities. If you like Greek Mythology, fantasy and hot romance, you probably would really like this book as well.
This is the first book in the Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark Hunter series (even though the hero is not a "Dark Hunter"). This story is funny, well written and made me acquire the entire series-to date. If you are into vampiric/romantic stories, this book is for you; but keep i n mind-this isn't your normal vampire book.
Sizzling!
Quite a good read. The storyline was refreshingly new and there was much more involved in the story than the cover reveals. I found myself drawn deeper into the novel about halfway through, when events became more complicated. All in all, it was a very enjoyable book in the series!
I loved this book and it's author!! Apparently I talked about her so much I received multiple copies from friends ;) You will definetly enjoy!!
The story of Julian of Macedon and Grace Alexander. This is the first book in the series, although no Dark Hunters are in this one.
Really interesting series. I enjoyed this book even with the silly title. The prelude to the Dark Hunters. A good read. Followed by Night Pleasures.
It is different - but really loved it.
love the premise very good
Whew! Steamy and fun! A VERY good read!
Loved it--always enjoy Sherrilyn Kenyon.
This was a great book! I love Greek Mythology!
The story of Julian of Macedon and Grace alexander. On a dare from a friend, Grace "wishes" Julian out of a book where he is cursed to foever stay as a love slave.Another great read from Sherrilyn Kenyon
This was the first of Sherrilyn's books I had read and I instantly fell in love with the series.
This book has pretty much everything. Suspense, Romance, some humorous parts, and of course some fantasy :)
I think i could relate to the female main character because she wasn't the usual bleach-blonde skinny model type, she's a "curvacous" woman :)
Anyway, you'll love the book, hopefully as well as my friends and i have. (yeah, i got them hooked on the series too)
p.s. this isn't the first book in a series, but you don't really have to go in order to understand the plot/story.

Still, when her best friend gives her an incantation to recite at midnight on her birthday to bring to life a Macedonian love slave, she can't resist. Her recital brings forth Julian of Macedon, a general of Sparta and a man of war who has been cursed by his brother to remain in darkness except when called forth by a woman to act as her love slave. Bitter and angry at the punishment, Julian accepts his fate and vows not to feel anything knowing that he'll eventually be sent back to his punishment. When he meets Grace, he finds he might actually have something to live for.
Great story. Didn't want it to end.
Excellent read! One of Kenyon's best books.
Great start to a great series...
Sort of the beginning of the Dark Hunter Books. It introduces us to Julian and Grace who are featured in some of the other books. It also introduces us to Selena and Bil. Quite good.
Julian and Grace's story was very interesting and unique, but I think it was just a bit too much for me. I don't read a lot of time travel romances, so the whole ancient Greek functioning perfectly well in the modern world and time hopping ancient greek gods and goddesses thing was a bit hard to swallow. That said, when the story stuck to Julian and Grace's interactions, it was wonderful.
LOVE this book and all the dark hunter books that follow.
Read it in one day. Couldn't put it down.
First peek at the start of Dark Hunters
Sherrilyn Kenyon is awesome, The story of Julian meeting Grace... Man I am addicted now,I'm on book three keep reading!
I have read the whole series and it is increadable. Just what every hot blooded women wants. All of Sherrilyn Kenyon's books are worth reading.I've read some twice they were so good.
This ia the first book in the Dark-Hunter series, but is not a story of a Dark-Hunter. The characters in this book do tie into the rest of the series, though. This is about an immortal Spartan warrior who is cursed by his brother to be a book-bound love-slave. There are some very steamy scenes in this book, but there are some funny parts too, like when Grace takes Julian into town the first time. I found myself cheering for the characters toward the end!
I love the softness in Grace's personality, and the rugged torturous aspects of Julian's. The plot is overwhelmingly fun; a sex slave falling in love with a sex therapist! The action in the book isn't as noted as it is in the other Dark-Hunter novels, but there does exist two noted fight scenes, despite the general lack there of.
Recommends it for: Anyone who loves sarcastic dry humor, awesome fight scenes, and sexy characters!
As a way of introducing the DH world, Fantasy Lover is my favorite for this reason. We are introduced to major gods and goddess players, as well as the 'paranormal' aspects of the DH universe. There are several favorite comedic scenes between Grace and Julian that I treasure, one specifically being Grace teaching Julian how to drive. The underlying sexual tension added with the teasing between the two is belly-rolling funny!
The passion and strength of the characters, not to mention the amazing plot, are enough to make me reread both Fantasy Lover, and the DH books as a whole again and again. Already started onto the 8th book!

I love Sherrilyn, and this one was alot of fun, I love the insults she uses, you can tell she lives with alot of men. HA
I really liked this book. It was one of the truly perfect romances I have ever read, it had a strong plot with good momentum, strong characters, and steamy love. I really recommend this book, great read.
This is a very entertaining book and unusual romance. Very well written. I enjoyed it very much.
Grace Alexander is a sex therapist who has been celibate for 4 years after her first terrible sexual experience with a horrible self-centered man. Grace's best friend decides that Grace needs to break out of her shell, so she summons Julian of Macedon to help her out. Julian of Macedon has been cursed into a book as a love-slave, existing only to give pleasure to the women who summon him for one month - and then he is gone from their lives forever. Grace doesn't want to use Julian the way she was used by her former boyfriend, so she treats him like a human being instead of a love slave and, of course, sets out to try and free him from the curse. A fun, light, romance novel!
No, it isn't one of her best books, but if you want to read the Dark-Hunter books....this one is a must to start with! It really sets the scene for many of her books, and introduces important characters to you.
A good story, and they just keep getting better!

I loved this book! Very entertaining and a fast read.
Another great book from Sherrilyn Kenyon!!!
A fun fantasy read about a love-slave summoned to fulfill a woman's sexual fantasies.
This book was SO good! I love Sherrilyn Kenyon as an author, and this book was just the srot of thing I've come to expect from her.
This book is good. I mean.... kept on reading and didn't realize that it was 7:30 at night, hubby never came home and dinner didn't get made kinda good.
I loved this book and it is a keeper for me. It also got me started on the Dark Hunter series. Now Sherrilyn Kenyon is on my list of favorite authors.
Love Sherrilyn Kenyon! This was a great read!
Wonderfully decadent!
Great! Wonderful! Sherri can spin an awesome tale!
Being cursed into a book as a loveslave for eternity can ruin even a Spartan warrior's day.
Awesome! The first of Kenyon's Dark Hunter series. Julian's story.
This is the first book of the GREAT Dark-Hunter series.
This started my love of her books! HOT!!
I just finished it, and Awwww. Just Awwwww! But a very happy Awww! Funny and light and serious and meaningful and just really really good. :)
I have been a longtime fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon since middle school. (For the mothers out there, dont leave your smut out where impressionable tweens can learn about sex and become addicted to HEAs like I did . . . though my addiction probably started after finishing the Harry Potter series, my moms Nora Roberts collection did not help.) During my blogging hiatus I decided I wanted to go back to a few old favorites, and *finally* read them in order, because it still bothers me, years later, when I dont go in chronological order. . . I know, I need to seek professional help. But who has the money for that shit?
If youve ever delved into Kenyons Dark-Hunter series, it is so flipping hard to figure out what book is numero uno, so I decided to start with the companions that began before the series starts, so I dont feel guilty about not reading them first. Kenyon, I love your work, but it drives me fucking crazy that nothing is in order properly. Please let me organize the shit out of your books. Please?
Fantasy Lover features Grace Alexander, a sex therapist who has sworn off sex forever . . . until one night of drinking accidentally conjures up Julian of Macedon, once a mighty Spartan leader, and now cursed to be a sex slave for whomever calls him up. One Grace learns hes not some perv running around her house naked, and that its her fault a naked stranger is in her living room, she is not pleased. I love Grace as a character, but these are the times I have to question her sanity. If a naked, perfectly built stud graced my living room, I would not be making him wear clothes . . . I cant be the only one who feels this way!
You should pick up your own copy of Fantasy Lover if . . .
- If you like your smut with a heaping spoonful of humor
- If you've ever wanted your own sex slave
- You've ever wanted a big, hunk of love to rescue you from your self-esteem issues
- You heart sarcastic heroines just as much as I do <3
- If youd do anything to keep your sex slave to yourself
- If you enjoy a sadistic author every once in awhile
As you can probably tell, I enjoyed this book very much. Although Fantasy Lover doesnt stand a chance against a lot of the later books in the series, it holds a special place in my heart. And my vag. *ahem* Fantasy Lover is well written, humorous yet heart-rending. If you dig immortal stud muffins without fangs and a lust for blood, youll love Julian, and youll love Fantasy Lover.

This is one of the best romance novels I've seen. I love reading about a man whose brought down to his knees by a woman. This was the perfect example of, be careful what you wish for.
When Grace and her best friend summons love-slave Julian she didn't think it would actually happen. Now she's stuck with a man she can't resist for a month. It takes only a few days for her to realize their's more to Julian than meets the eyes.
Once a celebrated warrior, Julian is now a slave to his and his mistresses desires and no matter how much he wishes out of prison, it's now their mutual desires they must fight if he's to be released. Grace was the first woman who has ever seen Julian for who he was, a man tormented by his past, present and inevitable future. Love was the one thing he's ever wanted since he was a child and now centuries later he still feel's he isn't meant to be loved.
Can a curse, gods, demi-gods, and humans come together to break Julian free or will he remain cursed because of simple sibling rivalry and pettiness?

I have been reading vampire fiction for the past two years. I could not get through this book it was so awful! It begins with the line ''HONEY YOU NEED TO GET LAID"" and goes downhill from there.

I loved this book!
I loved this book I was captivated untill the end. The ending has a great twist
I enjoyed this romace but the surprise appearance of some familiar faces was what made this story click for me. This book is listed on Bookcrossing and I'd appreciate it being journaled. Thanks!
This was the very first Sherrilyn Kenyon book I read! It was absolutely wonderful! I have been hooked ever since! A feel-good book, with lots of grins and giggles!
Not what I expected!! but just what I needed.... I thought it was about Vampires!?! hmm, don't know why I thought that, but this was my first book by Sherrilyn Kenyon, but it will not be my last!!! she has a way of making me want more!
Story of Julian of Macedon, a Spartan warrior trapped into a book as a love slave for two thousand years. Related to but not a Dark Hunter series book. just as enjoyable as the DH's. The cover of this book is different from that pictured in the posting screen but title and ISBN are the same.
I had to struggle to finish this book. I skimmed parts of the book because the writing was so bad. I had heard great things about the Dark-Hunter series so I was expecting more.
The heroine is a sex therapist, but she can't be that good because after one bad sexual experience, she has turned into a hermit. What's with these heroines who turn away from men after one bad experience years ago in college? I couldn't believe that she could help others with their sexual problems when she couldn't help herself with her own sexual issues!
The romance and sex are really vanilla. Julian is supposed to have bedded thousands of women and is also the son of Aphrodite, the goddess of love, but there's not much heat from him. What happens between Julia and Grace is more like something from a Silhoutte book rather than something you'd read from say JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Now THOSE books are passionate and intense. The hero and heroine in this book don't reach those levels. A pity really.

Being trapped in a bedroom with a woman is a grand thing. Being trapped in hundreds of bedrooms over two thousand years isn't. And being cursed into a book as a love-slave for eternity can ruin even a Spartan warrior's day.
As a love-slave, I know everything about women. How to touch them, how to savor them, and most of all, how to pleasure them. But when I was summoned to fulfill Grace Alexander's sexual fantasies. I found the first woman in history who saw me as a man with a tormented past. She alone bothered to take me out of the bedroom and into the world. She taught me to love again.
but I was not to know love. I was cursed to walk eternity alone. As a general, I had long ago accepted my sentence. Yet now I have found Grace-the one thing my wounded heart cannot survive without. Sure, love can heal all wounds, but can it breat a two-thousand year old curse?
This was a fun and entertaining read! Great touches of Greek mythology and romance rolled into one.

Wonderful story. Goes along with her Dark Hunter series.

Pretty good.

A wonderful book by Nora Roberts. A steamy romance novel, it is about a magic book and the man trapped within its pages. He can be called forth at midnight on the full moon and remains the woman's love slave until the next full moon.
