Overview: Barney Sacket was on the run from the law. The only trail open to him ran West. With a few fierce friends and a loyal woman by his side, Barney carved a place for himself in the raw American wilderness - battling unyielding elements and savage Indians every inch of the way. Then the day came when Barney found himself unexpectedly and desperately alone.
Review: One of Louis L'Amour's "Sackett Family" books. The Sacketts are still in the mountain man era - not quite to the cowboy era. This is one of the best Sackett books and I've read them all.
To the Far Blue Mountains is book #2 in the Sackett series by Louis Lamore. It is a story of survival, friendship and scrappy independance. Taking place in the time of Raleigh and "the New World", Lamour weaves his story from the fens in England to the New World, yeomen, royalty, pirates, colonists and of course indians all come alive and struggle to survive.
Barnabas and Abigail were the first Sacketts in the new land. Barnabas has a dream of estabishing a home in the Far Blue mountains. Once there, they start the Sackett family.
