Nice collection of light reading when you've only got a couple minutes or you have to read in "interrupt mode." Also good for getting something light to think about before going to sleep.
The short selections could be useful in teaching English as a second language (ESL)to adults. Selections have compound-complex sentences with different verb tenses and modes. They explore customs and experiences of people in the United States (Halloween, Christmas Shopping). And, an introduction to one type of U.S. humor writing.

Can't say enough about this book! I absolutley LOVE it and can't wait to read Bodett's other books. A lot of folk wisdom with a ROFL style.

"As Far As You Can Go Without a Passport gives the homely virtues a boost with style, humor and without sentiment. Tom Bodett's gentle wit is a welcome gift in these ungentle times." Merle Kessler of "Duck's Breath Mystery Theater"
