Just a reminder that starting tonight ( july 29) is the fast of Tisha B'av, or the ninth day of the hebrew month of Av. This fast day is in memory of the destruction of both temples, which both occured on this date in history. While the orthodox refrain from eating and drinking for 25 hours ( until 8:51pm on july 30th in my area of NJ to be precise) we also do not wear leather shoes or bathe, as we are acting as if in mourning. While I am not sure if the conservative or reform observe this day like the orthodox do, I just wanted to let everyone know about it, and maybe you could skip your cup of coffee in the am or dessert at night to remember the 2 temples.
