I am sad to see that this series will probably not be continued. I really enjoyed the lead character in the book. She had a tendency to do really, really stupid things, telling herself how stupid they were as she was doing them, but somehow I could accept it. Normally that kind of thing drives me crazy, but Hyatt (who is really Sarah Hoyt in a clever paperback disguise) masterfully helps me suspend my disbelief.
This book is FUNNY. I loved it. I'll miss the series.
Under her real name of Sarah Hoyt, she writes science fiction and fantasy with historical settings, mostly. I read in her Wikipedia entry that she has a modern shapeshifter series that takes place in the same town as this mystery series and includes some of the same characters. She seems to have abandoned the cozy mystery genre for her first loves.
