This abridged audiocassette (still 5 hours on 4 tapes) provides a fascinating glimpse into one of Temperence Brennan's earliest cases. From her internal conflict over whether to let Andrew Ryan into her life, versus letting go of her husband, whom she is seperated from, but still friendly with, to the unforseeable plot twists and the very real possibility of Brennan losing her career to false acusations, the listener is kept involved throughout.

Kathy Reich's Tempe Brennan books keep your interest all the way through and this one about a plane crash in NC with unexpected complications is not an exception. This is a great audio book that keeps you on edge all the way through. Well read by Katherine Borowitz

For those of you who seem to want more detailed reviews ..... here goes.

Tempe Brennan is back in action at the scene of a gruesome commercial plane crash in the mountains of North Carolina (yes, there ARE mountains in NC). The gritty realism of the crash site, combined with Reichs' unflinching descriptions of the victims' remains form the backdrop for a mystery that begins when Brennan finds a human foot that she suspects is NOT part of the crash scene!

As a result of the "power plays" with the various agency's investigating the crash site, Brennan is pulled from the case, her name smeared across the press, and her professional reputation put in jeapardy when she is accused of "tampering with a crash site". If you follow Reichs' books, you know that Tempe Brennan is a straight-arrow forensic anthropoligist whose work is always ethical and scrupulous. So what's going on here? This question forms the backbone of this story! Brennan struggles to do two things at once, one - clear her name, and solve the mystery of the foot.

This audio (the book too) gives you some satisfying plot twists throughout. This is a strong and well done mystery, and Tempe Brennan is back in form as the strong, no nonsense and likeable woman we came to know in "Deja Dead". Her interactions with a brand new character (an irrascible big dog, who is both her bane and companion)add a level of much welcome humor to this otherwise grim tale.

As in all other Reich books, this one is well written, fast paced, and making you want for more. Sorta makes you want to check out all the other books in this series (I wish I had more of them to swap).

Take a chance, check it out, it's only 2 credits :-))

Abridged edition. 4 cassettes. Running time 5 hours.

Another good Kathy Reichs book. I never get tired of her stories.
