This reminds me of Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series. Vampires and Kurjans have existed with a shaky peace treaty for two hundred years. Now a Kurjan king wants to wipe out the vampires. Cara and her daughter, Janie, hold the key to both races continued existence. Talen, a Dark Protector of the vampire race, kidnaps Cara and Janie to save his people. Talen and Cara are married and mated in the first 24 hours. Talen is way more dominant than I like in an alpha male. The "claiming" scene is too close to rape to be romantic or sexy. The storyline is good and I'm sure I will read the next book to see what happens to Cara's sister. For now, I need to get past the ick factor. 3 stars
I read a review at Amazon titled 'Forceful Much' and I completely agree, except I couldn't get past chapter 7. Talen and Cara, without her daughter, were forced to stay in a cabin far from everyone. He informs her that they WILL mate that night, and comes so close to making her it made my skin crawl. Whatever happened to 'No means no.' Up until that point I really liked the book, and made sure the next two were on my wishlist. The book may have been really good, but that chapter ruined it for me.
