Karima Bennoune's book, Your Fatwa Does Not Apply Here, won the Dayton Literary Peace Prize for 2014 in the Non-Fiction category. I read it for the Challenge, and it is superb. She is a human rights lawyer and university professor (in California) who visited, in person, most of the Muslim majority population countries in these last several years. She went in order to learn about Muslim fundamentalism. The author, a native of Algeria and the daughter of a man who was an activist against the encroaching fundamentalism in Algeria in the 90s, sets out her findings in this meticulously noted report that merits wide readership, IMO.
