Another interesting book with a disappointing ending. This book holds such wonderful promise - a terrific setting, interesting characters, wonderful dialogue - and then, about three-quarters through, it veers off its tracks with its characters behaving in ways that no one would believe. By the time I reached the end, I was completely annoyed with the author - how dare she ruin this story with the most amazingly ridiculous plot twist. If only we could limit this book to the story of Martin (which was handled fabulously - she did a great job of explaining how his mind worked), and the relationship between the American twins (which was also so well done), and Elspheth's struggles to be heard (which was so innovative and creative), and eliminate the ridiculous resurrection scheme, and the muddled story of the Edie/Elspeth - who was who - saga, it would have been a better book.

A quirky tale of love, loss, and coming into one's own. I loved all the subtle (and not so subtle) symmetry between various characters (Eddie & Elspeth, Valentina & Julia, Elspeth & Valentina, Elspeth & Julia, the older twins & younger, I could go on & on). I was moderately disappointed with the ending. I won't spoil it, suffice to say, I felt certain elements of the story to be too "neatly" tied up, and some characters to do & say things so outside what they really would that I was a bit frustrated. I would have been happier had it simply ended before the last 1.5-2 chapters.
