Excellent noir mystery, very well written in a classic style. Will keep you guessing to the end.
If you like the Easy Rawlins books, then you will definitely like Fearless Jones!!
A classic mystery written in the noir style. Takes place after world war two in LA. Very well written.
Great mystery - lives up to Mosley's previous work.
A well told tale, but unlike Easy Rawlins, the Fearless character is hard to like.
One of my favorite author's. He has a way of putting you at the scene. Never a dull moment reading about Los Angeles in the 1950's.
I think if you like mysteries, this would be a great book. I happened upon Mosley's The Man in the Basement, and I thought it was an amazing book. I should know better than to keep ordering these mysteries of his, they just don't grab me but then, hello, I am not a mystery lover! This is vintage (mystery man) Mosley, so if you like his other stuff, this is one you'll enjoy.
Paris Minton is minding his own business -- a small used-bookstore of which he is the proud proprietor -- when a beautiful woman walks in and asks a few questions. Before he knows it, he's been beaten up, slept with, shot at, robbed, and his bookstore has been burnt to the ground. In LA in the 1950s there aren't too many people a black man can turn to for help. He's in so much trouble he has no choice but to get his friend Fearless Jones out of jail for support.
and then things start to go really bad.
