The breakfast recipes include apple butter, Johnnycakes, Breakfast puffs, fried ham with gravy and dressed eggs with information about cooking and the foods that were prepared. Dinner consisted of Chicken pudding, Veal balls, Sweet potatoes and apples, green beans and Whipped Syllabub. Miscellaneous recipes like Sally Lunn bread in which a little excerpt states: "Some people say Sally Lunn bread came from the French phrase for sun-moon soleil-lune (so-lay-LOON). Each loaf has a golden top (sun) and white bottom (moon). In English, soliel-lune became "Sally Lunn" which is how the bread is known today." Favorite foods were Beefsteak pie, Baked pumpkin pudding, Raspberry flummery, Almond tarts, Queen cakes, spiced nuts and Liberty tea. A plan for your own tea party is enclosed as well. A wonderful cookbook!

Lots of good historical information and fun recipes for kids and parents to try together. Fun for anyone interested in colonial history and for fans of the American Girls series.

These books are absolutely fabulous. They help bring the American Girl stories to life for both my children. I am actually using them as part of a history unit study for my daughter along with the story books, craft books, mini-dolls, and mini-magnetic world. They are perfect for helping your children with their math and reading without them even knowing it! As you can tell, we love them!
