The first Nero Wolfe novel, written in 1934. They're still printing and selling Nero Wolfe books, for a good reason. Even today, they're great reading. This one is one of the most clever of the Nero Wolfe stories.

The first book in Stout's enormously successful mystery series. My favorite series amongst 20th century whodunits.
