This is a fierce and tender story and much bigger than the romance. Shakira is the lost princess, found by the hero, Sharif, in a refugee camp and she has been pretending to be a boy in order to protect herself. Anyone who watches TV must have some visual in their minds of a refugee camp - the pain, squalor, the look of desolation in the eyes of the people in the camps. Shakira depends on Sharif in order to make through the transition of refugee to princess and thankfully the author does not have the heroine forget where she came from. That's why this book is larger than any regular romance I've read before. Shakira and Sharif work to help the refugees left behind in the camp. Another thing that Sellars did was divide the book up in section and introduced each with a dream by the heroine. Very satisfying and highly recommended.
