I was surprised by the ending of this book. A difficult read at times, but well worth it in the end.

Oh boy did this book get my dander up!! Guess that is a sign of a good author, and she is wonderful, i'd read anything she writes. This review is going to sound like i am contradicting myself as it made me so angry yet i loved the novel. It is rated fiction, but could very well be nonfiction. I was angered at the injustice for this child and others in this story. I was madder than a wet hen at the stupidity, laziness, uncompassion, and lack of common sense the mother had. You can be uneducated, and i do not look down on anyone for that, but there is such a thing a being decent, that i found this mother and father lacked. I had to put the book down and pace and ponder for a time to get thru it, yet did not want to stay away from it for long. I do believe at the time and place had i been this womani would of gotten away with a "Deloris Clayborn" solution, and i am in no way a vindictive person. I don't understand why there are not more reviews on this book, maybe because there is always someone waiting for it, but i base alot of my selections on as many reviews as i can get on a book if i am not familiar with it. This book was a wonderful wonderful read and the author's accent and words make for an amazing time spent within the cover of this novel. The ending knocked my socks off--didn't see it coming.

This was a VERY good book!! The story is about a little girl that was born the "fifth " child in a family that was mistreated and abused by her "Daddy". This book will make you laugh and cry. But, in the end, it is so so sweet! I truly enjoyed reading this book and you will too!!
