From the back cover:

"Houston, we have a catastrophe ..."

An astronaut has died horribly two hundred miles above the Earth's surface -- the victim of a fatal equipment flaw ... or something worse.

An American hero during the Apollo era, astronaut Santy Santich has spent a decade languishing in the NASA backwaters, waiting for that one last ride that might never come. But a tragic accident during a recent Space Shuttle mission could give him the second chance he's long dreamed about ... and the fate he's always feared.

NASA is covering up something, and Santy knows it. But once he's strapped into the cockpit of Columbia eighteen stories above the ground, it may be too late for him to unravel the twisted threads of politics, betrayal and violent death that are strangling the plagued space agency.

Because the countdown has already begun ... and Santy Santich could be blasting off with a killer.

Astronaut Santiago Santich was an American hero during the Gemini program and has since faded into the woodwork at NASA, waiting and hoping for a last ride into space, a ride that may never come. But a tragedy during a shuttle mission suddenly gives him the opportunity of a lifetime. But NASA is covering up the deaths of astronauts, and the very integrity of the space program itself. Now Santy and his crew are miles above earth when they unravel the secrets and discover their very lives and return to earth are threatened. This book will keep you riveted. The suspense is nerve-wracking and the technical writing lends never before seen insight into the operation of the space program. Vivid and captivating!

Written after the Challenger disaster in 1996 and years before the Columbia disaster in 2003. This one is full of intrigue with the blame being placed on a sociopath working for NASA. How delightful. Would you sell your soul as a washed up astronaut for one more shot in space? And what if you had to take three others with you into disaster? I found it a fast read with three-dimensional characters and enough twists and turns of plot to keep me rivited. Enjoy.
