This book was excellent, and enjoyed by myself and my daughter. However, I found there was a somewhat disturbing scenario involving a disturbed child with telepathic powers. I will not have my 12 year old read this, although most teens should be okay. At 500 pages, a bit long. There are sequels.
The "Sword & Sorcery" type of writing is herein fine-tuned to cat lovers, (though the animals are bigger & called Ghatti!) but the complexity of the society and its mores keeps the 504 pages vivid to the end ! It is written so that it is very easy to become part of their world while you read.
This is a book about the ghatti, or cats with the ability to share thoughts with humans. It is the start of a series that tells the tale of an outcast that is harming pairs of ghatti/human bond mates and the discovery of who this person is. It was an interesting concept, and I enjoyed reading it, however it is not one that I will probably want to reread at any point.
I'd read this before and forgotten most of it. After starting the first 10-ish pages, I remembered that I wasn't too fond of it the first time around, and finished it for the sake of not having an unfinished book lying around. Neat concept, but I didn't like Greeno's story about it.
Good book though too slow for my tastes. Fans of this author might like it.
This set of books is awesome. A bit difficult to get into, at first, but definitely worth plodding through until it hooks you.
Bought this book for my teenage son to read for a school book report. A fun tale with telepathic catlike people, makes you want your cat to lay on your chest while reading this adventurous story. The story continues for those who liked this one.
Their technological resources destroyed, a colonizing expedition from Earth has been stranded on the world of Methuen for over 200 years. The Seekers Veritas are a unique group of Bondmates, one human and one ghatti, a telepathic catlike being native to Methuen who bonds with a specific human for life. The Bondmates travel from town to town, settling disputes by truth-reading the minds and emotions of plaintiffs and defendants. In this book, a specific pair of bondmates is targeted by a destroyer.
I throughly enjoyed this book and the next books in the series. I would highly recommend reading this book if you enjoy fantasy type books.

I LOVED the book. The whole concept of a "talking animal" is just so neat. I want one, any kind.
I love this series and couldn't find it anywhere. Thanks PBS.
Seeker Veritas are judges who are able to tell when someone is telling the truth or when that person is lying. They are telepathically Bonded pairs, one human and one ghatta. They dispense justice throughout the land. But now, someone is targeting them, and the only thing that can save the Seekers is locked in the buried memories of one young Seeker - buried so far down, even her ghatta can't find it!
