Very good story of a young women suffering with schizophrenia and what her life was like during the time before she got treatment.Pat

An excellent read! Alice is slowly slipping into schizophrenia and her life has some strong parallels to Alice in Wonderland which fuels her delusions. I both laughed and cried while reading this. Some of the writing was so vivid and real I found myself thinking I was right there struggling alongside Alice. A *must* read!

Carlson writes for so many age groups I was surprised how much she developed the main character. You really get a glimmer of what it's like to deal with mental illness. Excellent book.

The first couple of chapters were a little bizarre for me, and I almost put the book down. I'm glad I didn't because things greatly improved once Alice began living on the streets and other characters like Faye, Simon, and the homeless boys were introduced. I could have done without the annoyance of Amelia, though I understand why she was a huge part of the book because of Alice's illness. Overall, a satisfying read.
