this is the first book by julia alvarez that ive read and i liked it. its a bout a girl who is adopted, meets a schoolmate who is from her country, and decides to finally found out who she is.
a lot of people had issues with the country never being named- the reader just knows that its a latin american country. i had no problem with this- it really has no impact on the storym and if anything, i think it might have taken away from the story if it had been named.
i liked all of the characters and it was a cute story. im definitely looking forward to reading julia alvarez' adult novels.
