"It is spring in the valley of the Moomins, and Moomintroll and his friends, Snufkin and Sniff, are out for a walk. They find the Hobgoblin's top hat, all shiny and new and just waiting to be taken home, and soon realize that this is no ordinary hat. When it's used as a wastepaper basket, eggshells turn into soft little clouds everybody can ride. And when Moomintroll wears the hat, he turns into the King of California! But a few strange happenings never stop the Moomin family and their friends from seeking new adventures -- like exploring the Hattifattener's Island or catching the Mameluke.
