This is the fourth book in the series, though each book is self-contained,about the Bonner family in the nineteenth century settling of upper NY state. I hope there are many others to follow.

An excellent book. Nice sustantial story, it follows the bonner family which are in donati's previous books. This can be read and well enjoyed even if you haven't read the previous books!

last book of a series, so far. . . search for the others also: Into the Wilderness, Dawn on a Distant Shore, Lake in teh Clouds. If you liked Gabaldon, you'll like Donati.

At least I wont have to wait long for the next one, fall 2006.
This was good and as usual well written, deep descriptions, full emotions. Just took a bit before I remembered who was who. Maybe I will do a reread!
