The first Liam Campbell mystery - a lot of good twists and turns and characters I can't wait to see more of.

One in a series of mysteries involving state trooper Liam Campbell and the denizens of a small town in Alaska (a la Northern Exposure). Great series.

FIRE AND ICE is the first of a series of mysteries with Liam Cambell, a trooper in Alaska. With a troubled past, Liam is broken in rank and is transferred in disgrace to a remote fishing village. There he is faced with a murder to solve and the re acquauntance of the only woman he ever truly loved. This novel is filled with quirky characters and a interesting village that provides us with an inside look into the Alaskan "cut-throat" fishing business. There are also many humorous observations about the "war between the sexes...Alaskan style! A good "who-done-it" with a complex love affair...Harlequin style! This very thoughtfully written novel will leave you wanting more!

I liked the book, Liam is not Kate Shugak but he
faces his life in Alaska with a lot of the same philosophy. If it must be done, then get it done and do it well. Good read.

Liam is a new character--a state trooper. His wife was put in a coma and his son was killed by a drunk driver. He wasn't doing his job,and they held him resposible for what his men did.He was busted and sent to the "country".In the first few pages,he arrives at his job and finds a dead man when he gets off the plane, and it doesn't stop there. One thing after another happens. This book keeps on the move.A little more gritty than the Shugak.I found it interesting.

I have read all of Stabenow's books. This one is a good one.

This is a new series for Stabenow, whose books about Alaska are very popular. In this one, we meet Liam Campbell, a state trooper. I think I like this series even better than her better known Kate Shugat series.

This is the first book in Stabenow's Liam Campbell series, about an Alaska State Trooper with a troubled past who has just been reassigned to Newenham, a small fishing village. As soon as he steps off the plane he runs full tilt into a murder, and the trouble doesn't stop there. It's a well written story, a good mystery, but somehow I found it difficult to relate to the characters. Perhaps I was subconsciously comparing this to her more successful Kate Shugak series, but it took me a long time to warm to the people and the place. I'm willing to give this another chance, remembering that it took time for me to warm up to Shugak as well.
