In this second to last book of the popular series "Bonnets and Bugles" by Gilbert morris, Jeff and Leah are nearly grown! The war is coming to its last days as a fire rages over Atlanta.
If you have followed the series, you will find Leah struggling as she grows up during this horrible war as she lives in the one state literally divided by Confederacy and the Union sentiments. Though she grew up right beside Jeff and his family, their sentiments were divided as her family favored the North and Jeff and his family favored and fought for the South.
In this book, Leah is very jealous of Lucy Driscoll, a Southern belle who is everything Leah wishes she was: petite, with porcelain beauty, and very refined with the finest dresses possible. In an effort to make Jeff jealous, she pursues another refined young man.
Out of all the books in this series, this was definitely my favorite.
