A very informative read detailing the aftermath of Flight 77 smashing into the Pentagon on September 11. Written with insight from EMT's, firefighters, FEMA teams and countless other agencies. Describes the search initially for survivors amid the raging fire, then the battle to put the internal and roof fires out, and finally shoring up the building in order to recover victims and evidence. Also brings to light some of the rivalry between different agencies and the bureaucratic conflicts that took place at times. I got a little bogged down initially with the amount of names involved, but after a while decided to forego trying to remember who was with what agency, etc., and just "read" the book. Very solid accounting of the events that took place in Washington that dreaded day and how they affected those involved in the recovery.

Interesting book of immediate events at the Pentagon after being hit by hijacked plane on 9/11/2001 from the point of view of first responders, incident command, individual firefighters, workers in the building, FEMA, FBI, and other related agencies and groups. Narrative format of personal stories from various local fire departments and people with various agencies. Good quick read. Heard the authors interviewed in a book review, also recommend listening to them discuss the material.
