My rating is mostly based on the quality of writing, the author (Scott Sherman) is a professional and it shows. The technical writing aspects are excellent (a rare treat in this genre), the world building colorful and complex.

After that, the rest of the book was a bit of a disappointment for me. The main character is a twink 'ho, there's a reunion with an in-the-closet-ex...the stereotypes and cliches just keep piling up one after the other. Although much of the book is absorbed in investigating stereotyped/cookie cutter villians, I actually picked out the murderer fairly early on. To summarize, well written fluff.

If you're looking for a well-written, fluffy beach read, a bit of mystery, and sequels, look no more. If you're not in the mood for cliches and predictable stereotypes, you may wish to hold off on this one.

Sleuth is a young, cute prostitute in NYC. He is sweet to his mother (like Fred Hunter's character Alex Reynolds), has a great best friend, and is determined to prove a mentor's (Allen) death is not suicide. Oops -- the detective on the case is a former boyfriend.
Multiple potential bad guys. Unexpected twist/twist/twist at the end. Who killed Allen -- that motive seems to appear from left field, a bit of lame surprise. That character was nice. I wanted one of the meanies to be the killer. Oh, wait... the meanies killed _other_ people. But some of the meanies were innocent. Good sub-plot about Kevin's parents (not) getting a divorce.
Waiting for the next one. Can't post this until 3 more friends read it.

Great book! I loved the plot and there were a lot of really funny lines too. Good mystery, good laughs! I am anxious to get the second book in this series.
