I almost didn't finish listening to this audio version of AT FIRST SIGHT because, midway through the story, it seemed to get bogged down with far too many uninteresting details. I kept listening, however, and I'm so glad that I did. It's a wonderfully bittersweet story, and it has an unexpected ending which is very heart-throbbing. This story, by the way, is the sequel to TRUE BELIEVER which tells of how Jeremy and Lexie met and became engaged.

I enjoyed this much better than True Believer, which has the same characters in it. Nicholas Sparks has a way of reaching right in & grabbing hold of your heart, & then twisting it with heart-ache. An ending I wasn't expecting at all. I really enjoyed the story, heart-breaking though it was. Jeremy Marsh returns to Boone Creek to marry Lexi, the woman he fell in love with while there. You will experience the ups & downs of their pregnancy, & the adjusting to each other lives. Great story.
this book was good!! sad but true to life!!

Not my favorite Sparks novel but a good story. If you're a fan, you'll like the characters and plot with its twists and turns. Listeners of the audio version may find the narrator humorous as he implements a southern drawl to all the men and women. If you get impatient, keep reading/listening...the ending is worth it!
Nicholas Sparks brings back two characters from his beloved bestseller, True Believer, in this continuing saga of extraordinary love. There are few things Jeremy Marsh was sure hed never do: hed never leave New York City; never give his heart away again after barely surviving one failed marriage; and most of all, never become a parent. Now, Jeremy is living in the tiny town of Boone Creek, North Carolina, married to Lexie Darnell, the love of his life, and anticipating the birth of their daughter. But just as his life seems to be settling into a blissful pattern, an unsettling and mysterious message re-opens old wounds and sets off a chain of events that will forever change the course of this young couples marriage. A Very interesting but true to life story.
The relationship between journalist Jeremy Marsh and librarian Lexie Darnell that began in True Believer (2005) has now progressed. Jeremy is moving from New York to Boone Creek, North Carolina, as they plan for their wedding and the birth of their child. A friend of Jeremy's warns him that he really doesn't know Lexie, and asks him if he's sure that he's in love. With the seeds of suspicion planted, Jeremy starts receiving mysterious e-mails that also cast doubt on their relationship. Add to that the fact that he is dealing with writer's block and that he has to come to terms with a change in lifestyle as an urbanite now living in the rural South. This is a man under duress. To avoid gossip, he and Lexie are maintaining separate residences and keeping the pregnancy a secret. Lexie is comfortable with the town's rules of behavior, but Jeremy is at a loss and finds himself tense and unsure about the future of what he thought was the perfect match. With his trademark sensitivity, Sparks delves into the nitty-gritty of relationships, and considers the sacrifices that each partner has to make in order to have a successful marriage. And readers beware: this is multiple-hankie romance. Patty Engelmann

Nicholas Sparks does it again in this steamy story of love, lies, betrayal and trust. Love the setting of North Carolina.....
