This is the third book in the Halo trilogy. It takes place shortly after the events that happen in the first Halo game. And it kind of sets you up for the Halo 2 storyline. Fans of the game will enjoy this series.
A "First Strike"continuation of the first two in the series. ("The Fall of Reach" and "The Flood" ) In the same quality and style. A very likeable journey into the future, but not one I would choose for reality.
An enjoyable sci-fi/action read, which is even more fun for a fan of the video game. Set after the events of Halo: Combat Evolved, it gives some background on the Master Chief character and the Spartan project that created him.
The Halo books are fun to read, and usually take me 2-4 days to get through. As a full time student, this is the type of book I read during summer or spring break to relax. Even if you're not into the video game, it's still a cool series.
The Halo books are great for those interested in the Halo story. They fill in the gaps and I found myself wanting more.
Halo has been destroyed, and the threat it posed to sentient life, neutralized. But victory has come at a terrible cost for the UNSC. Thousands of valiant soldiers fell in the battle to prevent the alien construct from falling into the enemy's cluthes.
Now, everything depends on the Spartan known as the "Master Chief". Yet even with the aid of the artificial intelligence Cortana, the Master Chief will be hard=pressed to rescue survivors and evade the Covenant ships patrolling the remains of Halo in debris-strewn space.
Ahead lies a dangerous voyage home, through a gauntlet of Covenant forces. For the sake of all, the Master Chief and his war-torn squad must not only survive, but take the fight to the enemy with a decisive first strike.
