This is a very moving book and as a new mother I appreciated all that this mother had to do to keep her children alive. I can't even imagine the hardships. The book is a relatively quick and easy read. I would have like to have seen it developed more. Its told through the eyes of one of the children ( now much older ) so some stories are vague. A must read about a forgotten part of history.
