It's kind of like a cross between Voltaire and Hunter Thompson, except lighter on the philosophy and drugs.

This is the final book in the Flashman series. And I've read them all. As a lover of history, I really like the way Fraser ties in so many historical people and events into his anti-hero's adventures. In some ways, these novels are a sort of alternate history, in that... "Here's what really happened."

But I'm glad I'm finished with the series as I've gotten really tired of Flashman's over excessive sexual escapades.

And, oh yes, I first read "Tom Brown's School Days" by Thomas Hughes decades ago. It's where the despicable Harry Flashman first made his literature appearance, and got his comeuppance too.
