This book takes you to a world, you possibly do not ever want to return from. Full of steampunk, magic, fairies and dragons, I was lost for hours in this book, not wanting to be found. What a treasure this book is.
I can see this being a CG movie for kids and adults alike.

I loved the descriptions of the automatons, each cog and gear. Very unique, where fairys and dragons are made from metal, actually everyone in this magical land has a gear or two in them. The one thing that separates them from being complete automatons is that each creature and person has a soul. A whispy blue, sometimes gold swirl inside each one, that makes them come alive. Thinking, feeling and loving automatons.

Jack a REAL boy has stepped into a world that at first, he does not want to leave. A beautiful but evil queen wants a real boy to raise as her own. She has done this in the past but when the child grows older, he chucks them aside, no longer happy. Jack doesn't mind being the new son, as his own mother in London seems to care nothing for him. Showing no interest in him, no talks, not including him in anything, just sending him off to his room. However, this queen, treats him like a child should be treated...at first.

Once he steps through the magic door into this city, Londonium, he meets friends and creatures along the way that he cherishes and loves. In the end it is up to him and his friends to defeat an evil side kick and previous son of the queen's. To bring happiness and sunshine back to the land of oil, dirty snow and black smudges, this is the task that Jack has taken upon himself. To restore a balance to this land.

I highly recommend this to lovers of Steampunk or YA material. This is also perfect for teens, tweens, 9-12 yr as well.
