What a fantastic "should have been a movie" book! I was totally blown away. I really liked the story line which I found very unique. Atmospheric but not overly so. The writing was fluid and solid all at once. This is a big book, plenty of pages to throw this awesome story at you. In the ghost/thriller genre not what I would call horror. You do not have to worry about any gore.
My Synopsis: A man is haunted. Not just from something happening in his home but also from something in his past. He's a writer by profession, has a good, strong wife, and they have recently moved closer to his brother, whom is a police officer.
Everything is wonderful, the home, the fact that it sits beside a lake, surrounded by beautiful forest, perfect for a writer to pump out some books. Great, until a secret room is discovered in the basement of their home. It quickly becomes clear that there are questions to be asked, answers to be gained, things to discover. When this secret room from the past meshes with the present, this man becomes obsessed, he writes about it, he questions it, he cant get it out of his head. The answers he seeks run deeper than what he could have ever imagined to be revealed. Is he exaggerating everything, is everything all in his already tortured mind from something in his past, that changed his life, his brother's life...will what he finds change their lives even more.
My favorite line from the story, "Because he is my brother, I will suffer a thousand deaths to vindicate his..."
I highly recommend this book. I had no idea the book would be this good. I had never heard of the author, its about time I did! I look forward to more!

This book was great and I finished it within a matter of days. Everything you want a horror novel to be.
