I really enjoyed this book. I always enjoy Cussler's books. I feel that he almost puts me at the scene! I had a hard time puting the book down. Kept my interest throughout. Although this was written a few years ago - Cussler's thoughts and philosophy about the Chinese are right on target today!

I got this book for a friend who was going through a rough patch health wise.
He just loved the entire book. He actually lost himself in the book enough to forget his discomforts for a time.
That is a 5 star rating for me.

A fast read and totally consistent with the rest of the Pitt series. The plot is far-fetched and PItt is ridiculously indestructible but overall well-written. A must for Pitt fans but otherwise, there are better stories out there.

I love Dirk Pitt and the NUMA chronicles. Clive Cussler is an easy read with lots of technical savvy and adventures to keep the reader hooked.
This is just one of a series written by Clive Cussler and I have always found them to be very intertaining and have read the entire series. Always hoping for another to be added to the series.
One of the better Dirk Pitt adventures.
A great thriller!
This review was originally written for the audio book version:
As always, Dirk Pitt does not fail to entertain me. For readers familiar with both Dirk Pitt AND Juan Cabrillo, this is where they first meet, though that's not the point of the book. The only down-side here is that Cabrillo is described as a Mexican American and the reader voices him as something resembling the Frito Bandito.

"Following the runaway success of his first nonfiction book, The Sea Hunters, Clive Cussler returns with his legendary fictional hero Dirk Pitt-- in a masterfully crafted tale of villainy on the high seas and the Mississippi River that can only enhance his status as the grand master of adventure fiction."
Excellent intertwining plots. Typical Cussler.
Another great book by Clive Cussler!!!
Dirk Pitt as heroic as ever. This is the kind of story thats in the headlines today. Once you start you won't want to stop.
Clive Clusser is always so good to read. This is a Dirk Pitt adventure.
James Bond. Now Dirk Pitt. A real triller. Almost believable.
If you like the Dirk Pitt series, you'll love this book. This book, though not as intense or historically involved as some of the others, is centered around a human smuggling chain and its diabolical environmental plot to control some of the globe's most powerful waterways. It's a good thriller like most in this series.
Good Book.
One of the best Dirk Pitt books I have read. Cussler has outdid himself on this one.
As usual, he writes a spell-binding story. I love his stories!
this was good..but became predictable
Great reading
Good Story.
