Part of the YA "Portraits" series, in which a young girl becomes the model for a famous painting, in this case "Girl and Laurel" by Winslow Homer. After running away from a lascivious guardian, Aurelia becomes housemaid to a friend of the Homer family, where she catches the eye of the famous painter. The seance at the end, where Aurelia's true identity and real family is discovered is a bit over the top, but the book is enjoyable and has a bit of teen-age romance to boot.
