Excellent!! I enjoyed this one even more than the first one in the series. Harry Dresden and werewolves, what more could you ask for.
Non stop action and lots of excitement. We learn a little more about Harry and see more interaction between him and Murphy. Looking forward to reading more!

As a fantasy fan for over 50 years, I have to recommend ALL the books in this series. But, be sure to read them in order or you will not understand all that is going on. Truly the VERY BEST fantasy series I have ever read!

I really liked this book, even better than the first one. I think Harry's character is endearing to both men and women alike so I just recently started my husband on this series with Storm Front since I believe he prefers a male lead. That said, many male leads are often indifferent or unemotional like so many men are, but Harry allows you to see his softer side at times too, beneath his tough outside exterior. Because every good guy has a good heart. :)
This book centers around werewolves and their various forms, and as Harry enters into a battle with the supernatural creatures, all the aspects of his personna are stretched and put to the test, including again, his friendship with Murphy, which still hadn't fully recovered from the last episode. Susan is back and Harry looks deeper at his feelings for her, especially when their lives are threatened and they're clinging to each other on what might be their last night alive.

Fun, fun series - Sam Spade meets Harry Potter vs. the FBI. This book shapes up better than the first in terms of character development and is long on action as well with a variety of types of werewolves, lycanthropes, etc. ripping through the landscape.

I am addicted to this series! A good combination of supernatural and "Film Noir." A kind of Raymond Chandler meets Cliver Barker. Harry Dresden is a Philip Marlowe of the Nevernever.

Harry Dresden is asked to investigate a series of murders that are taking place around the full moon. His investigation leads him on track to catching one werewolf, while other werewolves are hunting him.
This book is non-stop action. Carve out a block of time to read this one, because you won't want to put it down! My rating: 5 Stars.

This is a great idea for a series, and I hope the books continue in their quality!

This is a solidly good read. Rather than just stopping at the generic werewolf angle, Butcher added a whole other dimension. I read a lot of fantasy genre books, and most start to sound the same after a while. Not this series! This second book is very fast paced. Can't wait to keep reading this series!

Hilarious and well-written. One of the best fantasy series out there.

Harry Dresden is back at it again. This time fighting with "big bad wolves". A good tale of the light vs. the dark. Lots of foreshadowing of things to come and a few tasty treats from Harry's mysterious past. I enjoyed the light reading and gave it a rating of 3.5 stars. Everytime I read one of these novels my mind keeps going back to the old movies, The Thin Man.

Bob the Skull amuses me, but that is about it in this book. Whereas after the first book I immediately wanted to read this book, after this one I figure it will be several months before I read another Dresden File book.

This is a fun series. It gets better as it goes along. I love the Murphy/Harry interaction, the completity of the story, and the fast-paced ending. I'm constantly trying to figure out who's good and who's evil, and all the subtilties in between. I look forward to exploring the series further.

Good book; Lot of violence, but a definitely a page turner. From back of book: "Business has been slow. Okay, business has been dead. And not even the of the undead variety. You woul dthink Chicago would have a little more action for the only professional wizard in the phone book. But lately, Harry Dresden hasn't been able to dredge up any kind of work--magical or mundane. But just when it looks like he can't afford his next meal, a murder comes along that requires his particular brand of supernatural expertise. A brutually mutilated corpse. Strange-looking paw prints. A full moon. Take three guesses--and the first two don't count..."

I love His attention to detail as well his character depth.Respect for his knowledge of the Arcane Arts.A well written novel that made me smile often.
This is Book 2 of the Dresden Files.
While I did not dislike the first book, I wasn't that impressed. This book, however, was great. The things that bothered me about the first book were not present in this one. It was a fun read with a good mystery, lots of suspects, constant action, an interesting plot, and much better character development.
Now that I've gotten used to the writing style and have a better feel of the characters, I can definitely say that I am hooked on this series. The more I learn about Harry, the more I like him. In this book he's up to his eyeballs in werewolves and the mystery behind them will leave you hanging until the very end.

I really enjoyed this book.
A little bit of it all in here, including a very tasteful sex scene. I'm also coming to enjoy the neat little wrap ups at the very end. Letting you know what happened to everyone after the big climax. I think this series is very well written.

great book, keeps the quality of 'Fool Moon' going.. Great read.
If you already couldn't tell from the title, just about every kind of werewolf imaginable comes to light in this book - which starts out with both Harry and Murphy still sullen about the happenings last Spring. (Evil mage and the Three-Eye drug, etc., etc., etc.) Murphy comes around and involves Harry (again) when there is a murder in "his field."
The 'victim' is one of Marcone's men, which will in turn involve Marcone, his business partner(s), and business adversaries as well. Since we are talking about a mob bosses' business we might as well add street gangs, plenty of innocent blood shed, and the thought of 'power gone wild.' Additionally, this wasn't the first killing of this type in various jurisdictions, so the FBI is involved. (Cult activity, gang killings made to look like cult activity...perhaps something reminiscent of the X-Files.)
Along the way, one of Harry's "associates" is killed - which makes Murphy believe Harry has been lying to her and she tries to arrest him. This leads to the revelation of another type of being and/or wolf. It will unfortunately involve Susan and another revelation that Murphy and Harry are essentially the same type of person on different plateaus.
There will be some predictable parts...in my opinion more towards the end. The author is a guy, so it shouldn't be shocking that three out of five or so females will end up topless. (Don't get me wrong...it isn't like Game of Thrones where just about every female is raped, beaten, or subjectd to some kind of humilation. Just something in the back of the mind since another person's review of Jim Butcher was screaming misogyny like an Amazonian war cry.)
Nonetheless, three out of five stars because it was above all entertaining. Good character development because with each book you get a bigger glimpse of Harry and this time even Murphy. Hooray for the creative juices that created several different types of werewolves instead of making them a flat one note sort of thing too!

Super easy read. I whipped through this one in a couple of days. Definitely a little more charged than the first book of the series. I also had to go back to read up on the different types of werewolves a couple of times. Who would have thought there could be so many. A great read.

Harry is back! Werewolves are at the top of the list as suspects in several murders. Interesting descriptions of the types of werewolves. Harry must be part cat because he should in theory lose several lives during this caper. 4 stars
This is a very fast action book. It held my attention and I read it quickly. I liked Harry better in this book than the last. I think you start to get to know i him a little better than the last book. Definately recommend the series!
Most of the books I've read in this genre are written by women authors. I was really interested in reading this series and wondered what the feel of it would be. I loved it. The character has a great sense of humor and has a hard time taking himself seriously despite his obvious ability. He's a blend of courage, humility, arrogance, and codependency. The plot was original and held my attention. I am looking forward to see what happens to Dresden and his friends next.
This is book two in the Harry Dresden series. Harry is still working with Lt. Karrin Murphy over the fact that he had hidden some facts from her on the last case that they worked together on. He was also still dating Susan, the reporter for the Arcane tabloid. All of a sudden, some murders start up, and Murphy needs his help.
What Harry and Murphy discover is that the murders seem to be werewolf murders. But what kind of werewolves? The next victim is one that Harry knew, and Murphy thinks that he's hiding something, so, she arrests him. With the help of a woman he thought to be a suspect, Harry escapes, and hopes to find out who's murdering people before things can get worse. Will Harry find the murderer before too many more people die?
This book was great. I liked it a lot more than the first book, and I will definitely keep reading this series. I love the character of Harry Dresden. He's smart, witty, and less than charming, which is perfect for the type of "hero" I like to read about. His sidekick Bob, the spirit in the skull is also great, although we didn't get to see much of him in this book.
I'd like to see where Mr. Butcher is taking things with this series, and I look forward to reading the next book in the series!

If Storm Front was Butcher flexing his writerly muscles Fool Moon is a great sequel where the author is clearly finding his stride and becoming more comfortable with the characters and the world he has created. It is definitely better in terms of writing and gives the reader a taste of what's coming in the Dresden Files universe. Wondering what kind of sign of things to come I'm taking about? I'm talking about werewolves. Butcher doesn't have just one kind, they're all different, there are different ways they are made and different ways to kill them. I really enjoyed how the usual lore was incorporated into the story and made unique in this way without really repeating anyone's work.
Whenever I read a sequel I always worry that the author will be heavy-handed in revealing the backstory, so before I even started Fool Moon I wondered how it was going to be handled here. I really shouldn't have worried, Mr. Butcher made sure that if a new reader picked up the book they wouldn't be completely lost and that a reader who's observing the sequence wouldn't be bored with the flat recounting of what happened in the previous installment or an roll call of who's who.
Having read three books in the series so far I can tell that every one has a theme that's related to the real world. Storm Front was about two criminals wrestling over control of the illicit drug trade in Chicago, Fool Moon is about law enforcement going rogue with dire consequences for everybody. The author is again very creative in the way he sets up the premise and for this series the execution is excellent. I could really see the metaphors he's drawn and appreciated the issues he raised.
This wouldn't be a Dresden Files novel if there wasn't enough wisecracks to fill two non-Dresden Files novels and if the action didn't move at breakneck speed. Butcher delivered on both counts and in the process made sure to add in some pretty intense fight scenes and a real Oh-oh moment. I have to say, I really like adventure that's written by men, if it doesn't go overboard on the violence it's a lot more satisfying than the action from women writers that I've read so far. There's more grit and less hand-wringing. It's not all testosterone-charged exploits though, there are a couple tender moments thrown in to please the fair sex, and as one such representative I can attest that they hit the spot.
My main gripe with this book is that a) Harry needs to give himself a break every once in a while and b) things were starting to feel formulaic in terms of plot development: I could clearly see the developing pattern of "start working on the case, get beat up, make two potions, continue working on the case, drink potions at two separate opportune moments, save the day while barely avoid getting killed". I really enjoyed the book regardless (there was so much going on that I forgot to watch for patterns) but worried about how things would go in the third book of the series once I was done. Watch for my review of Grave Peril to see what I discovered.

Harry Dresden, P.I. has a desk full of bills and no new clients to go along with it. Just when he's hitting rock bottom he's called on to solve a brutal killing that has all the hallmarks of a werewolf murder. Even though he can't afford to give it up, this case may take everything from him in the end.
Excellent book. Fantastic series. This one is one of my favorites and its only fair if I share.
I was pleasantly surprised with this book since I hated the first book in the series. I read a short story about Harry Dresden and liked it a lot so i thought I'd give this series another try. I'm glad I did, though I hardly need another series to read.
Wizard Harry Dresden is the strongest (and possibly the only) wizard in the Chicago area. He consults for the special investigations division of the police department. Detective Karrin Murphy is the only one who believes that Harry is a wizard and that he can help with the unusual crimes she investigates. In this installment, brutally vicious murders have taken place around the full moon and Harry is called in to consult. He immediately thinks werewolf and when the FBI takes over and kicks both Karrin and Harry out of the investigation, Harry can't sit back and let them do their job. He has to stay involved because he knows more than they do. Well in most wizardly things he probably does, but they have a few tricks up their sleeves too.
A very interesting story with quite a few twists and turns that will surprise most readers. I surely didn't see it coming and enjoyed the non-conventional twists. I guess I must add Harry Dresden to my series reads.

Unlike it's predecessor, this book had quite a bit of swearing in it which put me off from the rest of the series.
Read this after the TV series had been canceled.Really like the series.
2nd book in series. New characters added. Love Harry.
Slightly better than the first one, the second in the Dresden Files series has Harry up against a bunch of werewolves and the local Mafia boss. Much more action, with a better mystery and tighter magic. Although I found the character of his cop friend Murphy much more irritating in this one, the ending mollified me and makes me believe she might have some redeeming qualities after all. This series is moving along nicely.
Lost items found. Paranormal Investigations. Consulting. Advice. Reasonable Rates. No Love Potions, Endless Purses, or Other Entertainment. Business has been dead. Okay, business has been dead. And not even of the undead variety. You would think Chicago would have a little more action for the only professional wizard in the phone book. But lately, Harry Dresden hasn't been able to dredge up any kind of work - magical or mundane.
But just when it looks like he can't afford his next meal, a murder comes along that requires his particular brand of supernatural expertise.

I'm really enjoying this series. This second installment finds Harry battling werewolves in an attempt to restore peace to Chicago. Many different types of werewolves which did confuse me a bit. Action packed, funny, and we get a tiny glimpse into Harry's past. Can't wait to read the next and see if someone really is out to get Mr Dresden.
Dresden books just keep getting better and better, if you haven't read one yet, get at it! :)
another great page turner
Gotta love some Jim Butcher! Harry Dresden is my favorite wizard!
Harry the wizard is back. Nope, not that one. Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden. Wizard for hire. Harry hasn't had a lot of work come his way. He has been on the outs with Murphy his police officer friend who usually gives him work. When he does receive a call from her, he knows it is going to be a bad one. Yep, bad. Mangled corpse. Evisceration. Pools of blood. Oh yeah, and giant paw prints. The full moon brings out more than the crazies!
I love Harry. He is an honest-to-God good guy. But he is flawed. He struggles. He isn't perfect. This book was great. It isn't as straight forward as you think going into it. There are many layers, unveiling more and more evil. I really recommend this book. 5 stars!

Not bad, starting to see a formula, and after only 2 books, that's not a good sign.
Enjoyed it
Although it's been a while since I've read a Dresden Files book, I had no problems getting back in the magical world of Harry Dresden. I enjoyed all the twists and surprises, and I liked Harry learning about different types of shape shifting. I look forward to reading the next Dresden Files book, Grave Peril.
Good vampire thriller. I enjoy it.
